damik's Diaryland Diary ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- My BSP Positive Behavior Support Plan Name: Danie R* Date:10/13/03 Behavior is: Self-injurious behaviors, ie: cutting, self hitting, hair pulling, bitting, picking scars, burning, banging wrists, scratching face, hitting head and body against walls. It needs replacing because: It will esclate and encourage more self destrictive thoughts. It also causes ugly scars and is detrementa to Danie's self esteem. Estimate of current severity of behavior problem: Moderate, can esclate Current frequency / intensity / duration of behavior: Monthly-ish / Moderate / 3 to 5 days Current predictors for behavior: Stress, frusteration, lonliness, feeling out of control, anger, confusion, etc. What should Danie do instead of this behavior: Talk about how she's feeling with natural supports, find calm safe reactions for frusteration. Problem solve. Write about how she's feeling instead of just reacting to it. What supports Danie using the problem behavior: Instant release of negitive emotions, feels in control of her pain and enviorment, easier for her to express then verbal, distracts her from the real problem. Behavioral Goals/ Objectives related to this plan: Replace Danie's self injurious behaviors with positive behaviors such as communication and problem solving. Help Danie be more open with natural supports about how she is feeling and what is going on in her life. Teach Danie strategies to de-esclate herself before she feels the need to self injure.
Teaching Strategies for new behavior instruction: Encourage Danie to talk through her thoughts and emotions help her examine which are valild and why. Help Danie in finding ways to positivly solve her problems. Encourage her to write through her negitive feelings with out judgement.
Environmental structure and supports, time/space/materials/interactions: As Needed
Reinforcers/ rewards: For every ten days Danie goes with out self injury $15.00 will be set aside. After ten consecuative reward cycles Danie will be able to use the saved money for anything she choses.
Reactive strategy to employ if behavior occurs again: Assure Danie that she hasn't failed herself or anybody else, make sure she is safe physically and emotionally. Talk with her about what caused the behavior. She will restart the counter and the reward cycle will start over, any money previously set aside for reward will remain untill she reaches the ten consecuative reward cycles. Monitoring results and communication: daily, through Danie's diary, counter, and conversations 12:07 a.m. - 10-14-03 -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I haven't cut myself in:
